• So it’s cherry blossom time in Washington DC. A perfect time to go visit. Packed my bags and headed off to my local Greyhound station. Funny, but the response from the ticket agent when I asked to buy a ticket to DC was, “You first need to buy a ticket to Del Rio, Texas.” I’m like, “Huh?” She went on to explain that there has suddenly been a huge demand for buses leaving from Texas going to DC and so all Greyhounds going to DC are in Texas. Strange I thought, but I decided to try a different tact. “Okay”, I said, “Then give me a ticket to Wilmington, Delaware.” (Thought I could get close to DC and then take the Amtrak into the city. If it’s good enough for our President, it’s good enough for me.). The agent said, “Okay, I first need to sell you a ticket to Tallahassee, Florida.” I’m like, “Huh?”. She said, “Yeah, there has suddenly been a huge demand for buses leaving from Florida going to Delaware and so all Greyhounds going to Wilmington are in Florida.” “Hmmm, what in the world is going on?” Guess I can’t get there from here right now, at least not on Greyhound. Maybe I’ll wait till 2025 to go see the cherry blossoms.
